Weedsport Atop Cayuga County in Global History Regents Scores

The Weedsport Central School District has posted yet another academic achievement. According to a Syracuse.com article published on August 5, Weedsport held a 93% proficiency on the 2024-2025 global history Regents exam. This mark was the highest in Cayuga County.
“I could not be prouder of our district,” said Sherri Monell, High School Principal. “This success belongs to our entire PreK-12 staff, whose collective dedication proves what’s possible when a community works as one.”
This is the latest in a series of academic successes for Weedsport. The district was recently recognized as having the highest proficiency on the 2024-2025 English language arts Regents exam in Cayuga County and the entire Central New York region.
Monell credits the Weedsport faculty for their impact on the effective learning that takes place in our buildings. “While our Social Studies department deserves a massive shoutout for their targeted instruction, every single educator and staff member played a part in this milestone,” she said. “In a small district like ours, people willingly wear multiple hats, bring strong instructional techniques to the classroom, and show up every day with genuine care for our students. They don’t just believe every child can succeed – they do whatever it takes to make that success and a meaningful education a reality.”
Weedsport staff and students return to school on September 8, where they will work toward maintaining their educational prowess. Monell will enter the new school year with confidence in the Weedsport staff and students, and gratitude for the WCS community. “I couldn’t ask for a better school to lead, to be a part of, and to have my own children attend.”
