Weedsport Earns Top ELA Regents Scores in CNY
In a June 24 article published by syracuse.com, Weedsport Central School District was highlighted as having the top scores on the 2024-2025 English Language Arts regents exam. Weedsport students passed the ELA exam with a whopping 96% proficiency.
Weedsport’s high marks in ELA ranked them first overall amongst seven school districts in Cayuga County. Broadening the scope, Weedsport’s ELA success also shared the top spot amongst 69 schools spanning all six counties in the Central New York region – Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, and Oswego. New Hartford Central School District in Oneida County shared the top spot with Weedsport, also achieving a 96% proficiency rate.
Weedsport Jr./Sr. High School Principal, Sherri Monell, traces this achievement to the partnership between our educators, students, and their families. “Achieving a 96% proficiency rate on the ELA Regents is a direct reflection of the relentless dedication of our educators, the resilience and hard work of our students, and the unwavering partnership we share with our families and community,” she said.
This level of success does not happen in a vacuum. According to Monell, “It takes an entire community committed to academic excellence to consistently lift our students to these heights.”
