May 2026 Weedsport Student-Athletes of the Month

Softball: Mallory Brown - Mallory put together a phenomenal month, batting .615 with 16 hits, 16 runs scored, 15 RBI, and 4 home runs. She stole 14 bases while striking out only once all month and posted an impressive .697 on-base percentage. During May, Mallory also reached a major career milestone by recording her 100th varsity hit. Whether she was driving the ball over the fence or creating havoc on the bases, Mallory’s ability to change the game made her one of the most dangerous players in the league.

Arie Giacolone was equally impressive, batting .609 with 14 hits, 15 runs scored, 10 RBI, 5 doubles, and 1 home run. She added 8 stolen bases, drew 11 walks, posted a remarkable .735 on-base percentage, and contributed valuable innings in the circle. Her disciplined approach at the plate and ability to consistently produce quality at-bats made her a challenge for every pitcher she faced.
Together, the duo combined for 30 hits, 31 runs scored, 25 RBI, 5 home runs, 8 doubles, 22 stolen bases, a combined batting average of .612, and a combined on-base percentage over .715. Every game began with the same challenge for opposing teams: keep Mallory and Arie off the bases. That proved to be much easier said than done.

Baseball: Brandon Thomas - Brandon was a consistent force in every aspect of the game this season, elevating his performance even further during the month of May. He finished the year with a .354 batting average and led the team with 23 hits. On the mound, Brandon logged the second-most innings pitched on the team and tied for the team lead with five wins.
Not only is Brandon an outstanding player on the field, but he is also a tremendous leader and an excellent student in the classroom. His dedication, work ethic, and leadership made a significant impact on our team's success this season.

Girls’ Track & Field: Evelyn Erbeck - Evelyn finished a challenging season with several PRs and a growth mindset that coaches strive to see their athletes possess. Despite working around injury and maintaining her goal of recovery, Evelyn persevered to not only excel in her events but attempt new ones as well. Determined to make the most of her season, she attempted the pentathlon for the sectional meet just 1 week before competition keeping up with competition and pushing herself to her limits.

Boys’ Track & Field: Aiden Leonard - Aiden qualified for sectionals. He PR'ed a few times this season. He always tries to get the most out of each practice. Always great to see his hard work pay off. He achieved 1st team all-league in PV this year.

Golf: Michael LoMascolo – Michael was the most consistent and steady golfer for the month of May in which he helped secure three victories by shooting rounds of 37 against Pompey, 38 against Cato, and 39 against APW.
