Volleyball: 14 on roster, 11 needed to qualify average of 11 is 96.228
The accomplishment meant a lot to Weedsport administration.
“We are incredibly proud of our student-athletes for this outstanding accomplishment,” Superintendent Gregory M. Stone said. “Having all five of our varsity fall teams earn Scholar Athlete Team status is a testament to their dedication, discipline, and hard work both on the field and in the classroom. At Weedsport, we believe that academic excellence and athletic achievement go hand in hand, and our students continue to set high standards for themselves in every aspect of their lives.”
High School Principal Sherri Monell echoed Stone’s sentiments.
"The success of our fall teams as collective Scholar-Athletes is the perfect illustration of what it means to be a true student-athlete here at Weedsport,” she said. “It takes immense discipline to balance practice, travel, and competition with rigorous coursework, yet our teams have met this challenge head-on and excelled, setting a new standard for combined academic and athletic achievement.”
Weedsport Athletic Director Jon Sgarlata added: "When it comes to scholastic sports at the high school level, we really strive to emphasize being a Student-Athlete in that order. Having a fall season where we went 5 for 5 in being scholar athlete teams along with having the success we had on the fields, courts, and trails is a product of all the hard work done at school...Teachers, staff, administration, coaches and athletes together."
