District receives update on village construction as end of school year nears

As construction continues in the village of Weedsport, there will be no large impact to the Jr.-Sr. High School in the final weeks of the school year. Work begins today, May 26th, on building a ramp up to the sidewalk across from the entryway to the high school. Sidewalk work will continue into the first week of June.

Construction crews are aware of the Firemen’s Field Days next week, and are prepared for the parade on Friday, June 3rd. They ask spectators to be aware that roads will still be in a state of construction, though no closures are expected. If you plan to watch the parade, please be cautious and stay out of coned areas.

In the coming weeks, a majority of work will be focused within the village of Weedsport, particularly at the intersection, where flooding is common during rainstorms. Crews say a collapsed pipe was discovered there, which has caused past flooding. These drainage issues are being addressed as work continues.

As always, the Weedsport Central School District will keep the community informed as we receive updates on the project.
