Update: April 2: Food and meal information

April 2, 2020

Dear Parent/Guardian,

With school closed, our food service providers have been diligently working together to provide meals for students in our District. It has been wonderful to see the employees and community pulling together for a common good in such trying times.

As this fluid situation continues to evolve, we will expand food delivery to any student in the District who may need it. To schedule pick-up or delivery, please contact us during the weekdays between 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. by calling the school your child attends:

  • Weedsport Elementary School: 315-834-6685
  • Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School: 315-834-6652

If you hear a recording, please leave your name and contact information and the information will be passed along to the appropriate person.

We are living in unprecedented times with news that seems to get worse by the day. But someday in the future that will change and we will all move forward together. All we can do now is continue to band together as a community and support each other the best we can.

Stay Warrior strong,

Shaun A. O’Connor
Superintendent of Schools

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Through outreach efforts the District has made phone calls and sent emails to families of students that depend on our Food Service Department to provide meals to their children while school is in session.

We have established two (2) options for families to receive meals.

OPTION #1 – PICK-UP

Since Monday, March 16th the District has provided grab-and-go breakfast and lunch for pickup at the Jr.-Sr. High School from 12:00 noon to 1 p.m., and will continue to do so on weekdays until further notice.

OPTION #2 – DELIVERY

Starting on Friday morning, March 20, at 9 a.m., in addition to OPTION #1, Weedsport Central Schools Transportation will send out buses to deliver breakfast and lunch to students throughout the District based on a current list of students enrolled in our meal program that have either confirmed their desire for delivery of meals or have not contacted us to decline. On Monday, March 23, we will deliver meals for Monday and Tuesday. On Wednesday, March 25 we will deliver meals for Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This schedule will make sure that the food we deliver is as fresh as possible. During the week of March 30 through April 3, the Monday and Wednesday delivery system will continue.

Our plan is to continue with these two (2) options until further notice.

Please realize that our delivery process may take a bit of time. We expect that our deliveries should be completed by 11 a.m. Please keep an eye out for your delivery at your address.

Finally, if you know of children that are in need, please encourage their parents and/or guardians to contact us via email at pcolucci@weedsport.org or call the Main Office at either school (Weedsport Elementary School: (315) 834-6685 or Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School: (315) 834-6652). We are earnestly attempting to make sure that our students are not going hungry during this difficult time. In addition, please feel free to email any suggestions that could help us in our effort to help our kids in the community.

Respectfully,

Shaun A. O’Connor
