School to close March 16 until April 29

By now, you are no doubt aware of the affects the coronavirus has had on both the local and global community. We have continued to monitor all guidance from local, state, and federal agencies. At this time, there are no cases of the virus in the Weedsport Central School District. However, on Saturday, Cayuga County declared a state of emergency.

Effective on Monday, March 16, Weedsport and all the component school districts in Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES have decided to close schools and all extracurricular activities until April 29.

During this time, students will not be required to report to school. All teachers are expected to report to work on Monday, March 16.

We recognize that this is an inconvenience to our families, but our primary concern is mitigating the risk of possible community spread. The district has been and will remain in communication with local health department officials. Given that this is a rapidly evolving public health issue, we feel that this is the most proactive and prudent action available to us.

We will continue to communicate and provide updates in the days and weeks ahead. We are committed to providing educational resources for our students during this closing so please continue to monitor this website, check email, and listen to messages from the Superintendent using our phone notification system.

The Weedsport Central School District is the hub for our community and this global pandemic will not stop that from being the case. Our existence is this community and its children, and we are taking this unprecedented action to keep everyone safe. Thank you for your continued support.
