The fall sports season has arrived, and we’re getting a preview of what to expect from each team’s coach! Check out what they have to say below. Go Weedsport!
The 2023 Weedsport Field Hockey team is wrapping up our pre-season work. Our first test will be the Cayuga County Tournament on August 31st and September 1st. After that, we jump into league play. With 11 returning players and the addition of talented newcomers, the team is looking to improve on last season’s record. In addition, we look to be contenders for the Patriot League title and drive deep into Sectional play. We are anticipating the completion of turf at Weedsport and using this added resource to our growing skill set.
The 2023 Weedsport football team is embracing the changes around campus and looking forward to being a part of the future of our storied program. The team is led by seniors Colin Granbois and Jacob Guy. Junior Nico Giacolone and Sophomores Mason Kocur and Lincoln Vincent will be key contributors to the teams’ success. The team will continue to represent their school and community with pride and demonstrate a high level of sportsmanship both on and off the field.
The two teams are young and will continue to improve throughout the season. A summer running program was offered this year that could foster great things this season. The girls varsity xc team will be led by Oliva Snodgrass who has dedicated herself to be a competitive runner and an amazing leader. The girls will be a league contender but will be faced with stiff competition. Zoyee Newton, Lilly Kime, Callahan Bacon, and Kayla Clark should continue to be a dominate force in our league.
The Boys varsity team will be led by young veterans, Dexter Barnhart, Sam Lowery, Jay Lowery, Matt Clark, and Matthias Crytzer- Shurant. All of these runners will be capable of taking the helm of the rapidly improving team. The boys team is small and will face tough competition throughout the year.
