Notice of a staffing change from Superintendent O’Connor

The Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School will undergo some staffing changes over the next couple of months. Please see the below note from Superintendent Shaun O’Connor, for context.

To the Weedsport Central School District Community:

Weedsport Central School District will be saying goodbye to Chuck Roach, Director of Operations and Technology Infrastructure, in the 2022-23 school year as he retires. This departure will result in a staffing change as current Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School Principal, Brett Fingland, will assume the duties and responsibilities of Director of Operations once a new Jr.-Sr. High School Principal is hired.

As Chuck addresses a health issue, he will focus his work attention on ensuring that our critical technology systems continue to function without disruption in both the short and long term. The technology network that has been built over the last eight (8) years is a source of pride for Chuck, and essential to our day-to-day operations as our District has transitioned into a sprawling digital environment. It is an environment that is device-based, highly interconnected and interdependent, and constantly evolving at breakneck speed to address wide-ranging issues such as cybersecurity, education law, and hardware/software advancement.

Brett will be transitioning into a role that is District-wide. Upon assuming the role of Director of Operations, Brett will be overseeing the departments of facilities and maintenance, transportation, and food service while also spearheading the District’s commitment to health and safety. Moreover, as the District plans to embark on its next capital project work in the summer of 2022, Brett will play an integral role on the team that directs the successful outcome of the public’s investment in our school facilities. This shift from instructional administration into a director role will add to the scope of Brett’s long-time commitment to the Weedsport community, as he also previously served the District as the Administrator for Interscholastic Athletics.

The District will seek to fill the position of High School Principal with a quality candidate within the next two (2) months. As we value and prioritize a smooth transition, I wholly acknowledge that change presents levels of difficulties and I hope to gain your acceptance of such and understanding as well.

Thank you and have a good weekend.

Respectfully,

Shaun A. O’Connor

Superintendent of Schools
