Advisory From Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office: Recent Vehicle Break-Ins

We are excited to host our first Varsity football game this evening on our new, turf playing field. As we hope that the game will draw many attendees, we feel obligated to share information with our community in the event one plans to attend.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office had recently issued a media release indicating that multiple vehicles were forcibly entered during high school contests last week/weekend in the neighboring school districts of Port Byron and Cato-Meridian. Valuables were stolen from locked vehicles and thus the Sheriff’s Office has advised the community to not leave valuables (e.g. purse, laptop, etc.) in unattended vehicles.

While the District will deploy additional security in the parking lot area of the Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School for tonight’s contest, we hope that all attendees will partner with us in the effort to diminish the likelihood of larceny on school property by not leaving valuables in one’s unattended vehicle.
