Weedsport voters will head to the polls on Tuesday, December 13th to decide on a $1.8 million capital project. If approved, the proposed project would improve health and safety for students and staff by replacing aging infrastructure in both school district buildings. Through careful planning, along with the help of New York State aid, the project would result in no tax increase for Weedsport taxpayers.
Learning environments that inspire success

At the Weedsport Elementary School, $1 million will go toward replacing windows across the building. Currently, the building’s windows are single-glazed, meaning they allow energy to leak out and the cold of the harsh winter months to seep in. New, energy efficient windows will ensure a more comfortable learning environment. The Weedsport Elementary School elevator will also be replaced, as it is nearing the end of its lifecycle, having been in use since 1993.
Building upgrades that improve the student and spectator experience

At the Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School, necessary upgrades will be made to the gymnasium. The aging bleachers will be replaced with a safer, accessible model. Safety padding around the exterior of the gymnasium will be redone where rips and tears are decreasing its effectiveness. A dropdown curtain will take the place of the current dividing wall, and the gymnasium floors will be refinished.
