Work on Jr.-Sr. High School auditorium begins this week as part of $100,000 project

Work on the auditorium at Weedsport Jr.-Sr. High School begins this week as part of the district’s $100,000 project. The project also included upgrades to the main office.

The auditorium work includes carpet installation in various areas and painting underneath the seats.

“We use our auditorium often and it’s a part of the district that the public spends time in during our performances, so we want to make it as appealing as possible,” said Superintendent Shaun O’Connor. “It’s a point of pride for the district.”

For the last seven years, the district has conducted a project and included it in the school budget. The district included a project in this year’s budget proposal for the 2019-20 school year that includes renovating a classroom at the Jr.-Sr.

High School and creating a digital production space that includes audio and visual production equipment.
The New York State Education Department allows a district to receive aid on capital expenses for projects that are funded with capital outlay that has a total cost of no more than $100,001.
