Summer Reading Project
Weedsport Middle/High School Summer Reading Project 2008! Why has the ELA Department developed and implemented this project? 1. Literacy is important!
2. Reading during the summer months keeps your reading skills from getting rusty.
3. These are some GOOD books!
4. Reading is linked to achievement; the more you read, the more likely you are to achieve a better understanding of literary devices, vocabulary, and critical analysis skills (just to name a few!) Project Overview:
Students select a book from those provided for each grade level before leaving school for the summer. Each grade level's project is unique; see the links for specific details. It is recommended that students read their chosen books during the summer months as class time in September will not be devoted to this project. Projects will be evaluated by teachers in mid-late September (specific due dates will be announced when school starts in September). Teachers will be available to assist students with their projects once school begins, but it is important that students have already read their books. ENJOY YOUR SUMMER READING!
