Spring Pre-Season Overviews
Varsity Baseball
Last season, the Weedsport Varsity Baseball team continued great strides towards success. After finishing at 9-9 in the regular season, the Warriors look to avenge a heartbreaking first round sectional loss to Beaver River. The Warriors are returning all but three players from last year and enter the season with high expectations. This year the team will take on a tough 19 game schedule and continue the trend of playing against several top teams in the section including a newly reformed Patriot league.
The team will rely on solid starting pitching and fundamentals to be successful, along with an aggressive approach at the plate and on the base paths. The 2010 team is made up of five seniors, four juniors, and two sophomores. The Weedsport Varsity Baseball team is once again focused and determined to win.
Varsity Softball
This year's team has 11 players returning and four new additions, making a roster of 15 players. We are very excited about the upcoming season. The team knows that we need to work hard during our pre-season to be game ready once the season starts on March 31st with our scrimmage against Jordan-Elbridge.
With having some depth year on the mound, we should see some solid pitching from senior Jordan Roe, junior Julia Myers, and freshman Cassie Weeks. Backing up the pitchers defensively are: sophomore SS Allison Chase, senior 2B Molly Sears, JR C/3B Cassidy Thomson, senior 1B Marybeth Diego, senior CF Samantha Beckwith, sophomore OF/C Libby Marsden and freshman IF/DH Elizabeth Chirco. Rounding out the team this year: senior Lindsey Treat, junior Deann Dolph, sophomores Jessica Dec, Sierra O'Hora and Gabby Barrigar.
Please come out and cheer on the team this season! We look forward to seeing you at the games.
Varsity Girls’ Track
The 2010 Varsity Girls' Track & Field team is comprised of 33 hardworking girls, with 16 returning from last year. All the girls are conditioning and working out to establish competitive times, distances and heights.
Our biggest goal is to work on improving times and distances in individual events.
We are hopeful to challenge for a league title.
Varsity Boys’ Track
The 2010 Varsity Boys' Track & Field team is comprised of seven seniors, nine juniors, five sophomores and thirteen freshmen this year. The boys are working on their timing, distances and heights. The team is looking forward to challenging for a league title and sending many athletes to sectional competition. The Weedsport Invitational is Saturday May 8, 2010. We hope to see you at this event.
