Winter Sports Season Recap

The 2011-2012 Winter sports season is in full swing and our student-athletes are enjoying a good deal of success. On Saturday, January 14, Weedsport’s Cheerleading squad placed an impressive third out of nine teams in the Class C Sectional Championship at Liverpool High School. On Friday, January 27, the Varsity Swimming & Diving team ended their dual meet schedule with a convincing win over Clyde-Savannah. That same evening, our Varsity Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Cato-Meridian and defeated the Blue Devils by a comfortable 15-point margin. Less than 24 hours later, the Varsity Volleyball team dropped its first game to Blessed Virgin Mary, only to roar back with wins in the next three games to seal the victory. On Tuesday, January 31, our Varsity Girls’ Basketball team made the long trip to Pulaski and extended its undefeated season with a thrilling 4-point win in front of a hostile north country crowd.

In addition to our Varsity teams, Weedsport’s JV and Modified teams are also practicing and competing at a high level.  Our JV Volleyball team is improving with each match as the girls prepare to play at the next level. Our JV Basketball teams are also showing steady improvement in the midst of winning seasons for both the girls and boys. The Modified Volleyball and Boys Basketball teams had very successful seasons that ended prior to Christmas, and both our Modified Swimming and Diving and Girls’ Basketball teams are underway with the competitive portion of their seasons.
