Elementary School » Character Education
Character Education Counts at Weedsport Elementary As part of the federal SAVE legislation, every school in the United States is required to place an emphasis on character education to reinforce the positive qualities parents teach at home. During 2004-2005 Weedsport Elementary participated in a federal grant to implement the E.P.I.C. (Every Person Influences Character) program. We will continue with this program in 2009-2010. In addition to the E.P.I.C. Program, we will continue to focus on our guiding statement of “I can make a difference.” Holding our guiding statement up is our four pillars. The pillars are Respect, Caring, Honesty, and Fairness. These four pillars, or “the big four,” will be continually revisited over the course of the year. Over the summer, teachers met to come up with classroom and school wide activities that tie our four pillars and guiding statement into our everyday school lives. Parents are encouraged to join us in highlighting the four pillars at home. Your support makes this school great.
